It might still be chilly outside after our surprise snow, but the longer days are putting a spring in our steps here at Artisan Alchemy! Here’s an update on some of the exciting things we have blooming at the gallery…
Desire Chelsea 2023
Michele was delighted to return to Craft in Focus’s Desire Fair again, which was held at Chelsea’s Old Town Hall from 10-12 March.
Desire offers visitors an amazing choice of contemporary jewellers and silversmiths who have been selected for their superb and innovative craftsmanship and have a genuine passion for the work they create.
The fair showcased unique work by both emerging and established British talents. Visitors were able to meet makers and purchase beautifully crafted pieces of jewellery and silverware.
It was incredible to meet so many of you at the fair and we hope you enjoyed it as much as Michele did!
We are thrilled to have recently welcomed three new makers to the Artisan Alchemy family! Work by Tom Donkin, Mark Ripley and Michael Ross can now be spotted in our gallery. We are really excited to feature them in this blog! Keep reading for a sneak peek at some of the pieces…
Tom Donkin’s fan console table and executive watch box have had a huge impact in our gallery space. The stunning oak fan inlay decorating the top and side of the console table is stunning – as is the solid figured and rippled American black walnut table itself!
The striking ebonised oak of the executive watch box highlights the beautiful hand-cut dovetail joinery. The lined box hosts eight individual watch compartments with fitted watch pillows.
Mark Ripley’s chairs are perfect examples of his elegant craftsmanship. His work is the uniquely distinctive product of his decades-long interests in the woodworking building of boats, buildings, and furniture, combined with an enthusiasm for the Arts and Crafts movement and the spiritual design of the Shakers.
Michael Ross delivered three eye-catching pieces to our gallery – you might have seen them on our social media recently! Mike’s work oozes luxury, from the marble interiors of this drinks cabinet to the rare Tamo ash top of his dramatic console table.
His trinket and jewellery box inspired by amethysts is shining in our window, so come and have a closer look!
You can get up close and personal with these new arrivals and other work by our incredibly talented makers in the gallery.
