Exciting news- Michele White FSDC

We are delighted to announce that Michele has been awarded a Fellowship from the Society of Designer Craftsmen. This is the most prestigious membership status given for quality of work by the Society so Michele is extremely happy to be sharing this news with you. Having been a member for many years, Michele has exhibited with the Society numerous times and feels honoured to be a valued member of this establishment.

The Society of Designer Craftsmen has been the voice of craft since 1887 - it promotes and supports the work of creative thinkers, designers and makers who continue to innovate in the crafts through their exploration of materials and skills over a range of disciplines.  Presidents of the Society have included exceptional makers such as William Morris.

During the private view of the current Society of Designer Craftsmen exhibition at the RBSA Gallery in Birmingham, the news of Michele’s Fellowship was announced. The exhibition Designer Crafts, showcases work by more than 20 talented makers. The work shown is highly original and inspiring including textiles, ceramics, sculpture, glass, furniture and boxes, silver and jewellery from some of the UK’s finest craftspeople.

In Gallery two Michele is showcasing twelve new pieces of jewellery, made especially for this exhibition. These include a range of earrings and pendants. In Gallery one, there are three exceptional handmade pieces. Michele’s work often takes inspiration from nature and the pieces shown in Designer Crafts are no exception. Depictions of trees, leaves, fruit and landscapes are found in the forms created by Michele. Despite the precious materials found in the display, it is not the value of the parts that are important, but the visual effect that matters.

All of Michele’s pieces are available to view and purchase at the RBSA Gallery until Saturday 13th November.

Michele's work can always be found at her Gallery, Artisan Alchemy, on Caroline Street in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.
